"'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.' The young men we shall meet in this paper fit Jane Austen's description very well. Unfortunately there were no scheming Bennett women trying to snare them. On the contrary, these young men all had great difficulty in finding spouses."
