Princess Gwenllian Society, The

"The Society was founded to commemorate Gwenllian, the daughter of Llywelyn the last ruling Prince of Wales ("Llywelyn The Last"). After Llywelyn's death, the whole of Wales came under the control of King Edward I of England. Edward ordered Gwenllian, a 1-year old baby, to be placed in an English convent for fear she might have children who would try to restore Welsh independence. There she remained until her death 53 years later." The site contains a brief history of the princess as well as information about her memorial in Wales.
